About

José Macedo is an architect born and raised in Portugal. Despite his architecture studies, his preferred artistic medium is photography, especially aerial photography. His passion around aerial photography started when he was living in Hong Kong. Exploring the numerous neighborhoods of this busy city, Jose started to explore the city as a bird's eye view with his drone between the concrete of the skyscrapers and nature around. He started to be fascinated with the patterns, geometries, and the 2D reality of the architects from the pictures he was taking. From that day, Jose started to explore this technique every place he was traveling to.

Work and Recognition

Some of his works have been recognized in the last couple years, being invited to share his works with the media around such as Time Out Hong Kong, Expresso (PT), South China Morning Post, Perspective Magazine, among others. At the same time he is being invited to exhibit his works in some art galleries and being part of artists collectives such as Bamboo Scenes from Hong Kong. In 2021, he also won the award for the “Most Creative photo” at the InstieGerador Awards.

Geometry in cities, nature and everyday life are the main source of inspiration for the collection displayed in this website. His goal is to obtain perfection and to hold in his compositions a happy feeling that transforms the viewer’s gaze into a colorful, diverse and beautiful imaginary.
